Thesis title: Literary Dreams as Narrative Strategies in the Godwin-Wollstonecraft-Shelley Circle

Research Interests: Dreams, Romanticism, Enlightenment, Gothicism, narratology, translation, comparative literature, etc.

Doctoral Research: My project predominantly asks why and how Romantic writers, particularly the circle of Mary Wollstonecraft, William Godwin, and Mary Shelley, employed the motif of dreams to reveal the mentation of their protagonists. As Romantic dreams circa the 1790s to 1830s are generally understudied and undertheorized, especially that of the selected circle, my thesis aims to offer theorisations of the narrative functions of dreams in literature, and to foreground the significance of dreams in British Romanticism.
